Enterprise Product Partners files lawsuit over PDH unit delays
HOUSTON, September 13, 2016 (PCW) – Enterprise Product Partners has filed a lawsuit in Texas court against contractor Amec Foster Wheeler, alleging the contractor is responsible for cost overruns and delays on its propane dehydrogenation project.
In March, EPD stated it was delaying the startup of its 1.65 billion lbs/yr PDH unit from the end of this year to 2Q 2017. The company announced the plant in mid-2012 and, at the time, had an in-service date of 3Q 2015.
EPD said the delayed 2017 start-up was due to ““new estimates with respect to the cost of the project and the schedule to complete construction, begin commissioning activities and begin commercial operations” as provided by the contractor.
On Tuesday, Amec Foster Wheeler said: “This legal process appears to be an attempt to avoid the terms they signed up to in 2013. We consider these proceedings to be misconceived and we intend to vigorously defend these claims.”
