US nonfuel use propylene supplies drop first time in four weeks

HOUSTON, September 13, 2017 (PCW) -- US nonfuel use propylene inventories fell 51,000 bbls (1.5%) to 3.378 million bbls, the Energy Department reported today. Propylene inventories are 157,000 bbls (4.9%) above the 52-week average of 3.221 million bbls, according to the department's Energy Information Administration. Last week's decrease follows a large 573,000 bbls build in the prior week, which was likely due to the passage of Hurricane Harvey and the outage of downstream units. Propylene spot prices have been firm in recent days, but trading volumes have been light. US Gulf refinery utilization dipped 2.7 percentage points to 60.7% during the week ending September 8. -- David Barry
